Massage and Hammam After a Hike in Uzungöl: Season, Hours and Booking

For a massage and hammam in Uzungöl there is Beatus Spa's location inside Flora Uzungöl Resort Hotel. But that location is seasonal, and as of 20 October 2026 it is out of season. We don't give a date because the reopening date has not been set. Out of season, our year-round Black Sea location is Radisson Blu Trabzon, and the call card on this page takes you there.

When someone comes to Uzungöl to hike, they usually finish the day with the same picture in mind: somewhere warm, a hammam or a massage, perhaps a cup of tea. Two practical questions stand in the way. The first is "is the spa open right now?" The second is "if it isn't, where can I go and how do I book?" This article answers those two directly. Then it covers how you might arrange the time after your hike, what to write in the booking message, and how to tie your trip to the booking.

The details of the hammam, the difference between a sauna and a steam room and a preparation list are covered by our Uzungöl hammam guide; for the trip itself see our Uzungöl travel guide. We won't repeat them here. This page is about the decision and the booking: is it open, which location, and what to write.

Is the spa in Uzungöl open? How do you find out?

The Uzungöl location is seasonal; unlike our year-round locations, it operates only for the season. It is out of season now, and the date it reopens has not been set. So writing a month or a date would be making you a promise that might be wrong.

There are three ways to find out whether it is open, in this order:

  1. The location page. The Flora Uzungöl location page reports the status. When the location is closed, the page says so and points you to the nearest year-round location.
  2. The call card. The call cards on this page take you to the Trabzon location's phone and WhatsApp line when the Uzungöl location is not open.
  3. Asking directly. You can write a one-line message to the location's own line: "Hello, is the Uzungöl location open this week?" If there is no answer, writing to the Trabzon location will tell you what is open.

This article was updated on 20 October 2026. When the location reopens, the status information here may change; always check the latest on the location page.

How do you arrange the evening after a hike?

The easiest frame for a spa after a hike in Uzungöl is to leave the hike to the daylight and the spa to the evening. The flow below is a suggested order; the times are deliberately left without numbers, because when your hike ends depends on your own plan.

StageWhat you doHow much time
End of the hikeChange out of wet clothes and dry your shoesWithout rushing
Arriving at the spaArrive about 15 to 30 minutes before your appointment15 to 30 minutes
Warming upShower, then a hot room; use the heat at your own paceKeep it short; Harvard's advice is 15 to 20 minutes
The main sessionThe hammam or the massage, or bothDepending on the length you choose
RestingDrink water, cool down, ask for teaWithout rushing
LeavingDon't step straight outside; add a layer if it is rainy or coolA few minutes

The table is a planning frame, not a rule. If you are going to fit a hammam and a massage into the same evening, the total time easily goes beyond two hours; in that case, booking early in the evening, close to when you come off the trail, is the easiest way to end the day calmly.

According to the Culture Portal, Uzungöl is 1,090 metres above sea level, 99 kilometres from Trabzon and 19 kilometres from the district of Çaykara. Around the lake you can go trekking, birdwatching and on botanical tours, as well as trips to the higher lakes and to plateaus such as Şekersu, Demirkapı and Yaylaönü. The Trabzon Governorship writes that, thanks to the abundant rainfall and relatively mild climate, the region stays green in every season, that hiking and nature trips are possible in spring, summer and autumn, and that in winter the lakeside accommodation is what people use. These two facts also give a hint for your spa plan: your clothes may be damp after a hike, so bring a dry layer.

Before you set out, it makes sense to check road conditions in the General Directorate of Highways' daily road status bulletin; this article makes no promises about journey times or routes.

Which massage? Questions to ask for Uzungöl

We have no definite list of which massage types are done at the Uzungöl location, so we don't list types one by one. Instead, here are decision sentences you can put in your message. In our general menu the durations are: Relaxing Massage 40 minutes, Deep Tissue Massage 55 minutes, Targeted Massage 30 minutes and Thai Foot Massage 55 and 80 minutes. These are menu-level; be sure to ask which are offered at Uzungöl and for how long. The full menu is on our massage page.

Three sentences help you decide:

  • "I've walked all day; is there something for my legs and feet?" This tells your specialist where to focus. The general menu has Targeted Massage, which concentrates on one area, and a Thai Foot Massage that focuses on the feet; ask which is offered at Uzungöl.
  • "I don't like firm pressure; I want a calm session." This is also a sentence you can repeat at the start of the session.
  • "My time is limited; is there a short option?" A short option makes it easier to fit into the same evening as the hammam or sauna.

If you would like to see what the types mean in a general frame, we have a types of massage guide. NCCIH writes that massage covers many techniques and that the risk appears to be low, though rare serious side effects have been reported. Strong pressure is not right for everyone; telling your specialist about the pressure is the safest course. If you have a health condition, talk to your doctor before your appointment.

We cannot make a general promise about the gender of the specialist: this preference differs from one location to another. If it matters, put it in your message and wait for the location's answer.

The hammam, sauna and indoor pool: what is known and what isn't

The Uzungöl location has a Turkish bath, a sauna, a steam room, an indoor pool and a gym. Which of these you choose after a hike depends on how well you take heat and how much time you have. For a general safety frame, here is Harvard Health Publishing's advice: stay in a sauna for 15 to 20 minutes at most, avoid alcohol before and after, and drink water after each session. The same source also tells people with health problems to consult their doctors before a sauna.

It respects the reader to say what we don't know. We have no definite information on the following, and so we don't write it here:

  • Whether the hammam is separate for women and for men or single, and how it is used
  • The size, depth and water temperature of the pool
  • The hours of the sauna and the steam room
  • Which types of massage are done there and for how long
  • Which hammam ritual is offered on a given day

Each of these is a question you can add to your booking message. To understand what the hot areas are for, see our article on sauna vs steam room vs hammam.

Who is the VIP room and jacuzzi for?

The Uzungöl location has a VIP room with a jacuzzi. Because the word VIP has no standard definition, what is inside the room differs from one business to another. For Uzungöl we only know that there is a jacuzzi; we have no definite information on the capacity of the room, whether it has a sauna or hammam inside, or whether it includes a massage. So don't apply the VIP room description of Sapanca or any other location to Uzungöl. To see the differences, read what is a VIP spa room.

For someone considering the VIP room, the right run of questions is: for how many people? For how long is it set aside? Is the hammam or sauna inside the room, or shared? Can a massage be added? When these four sentences go into the message, the location can answer in one go.

Out of season: the year-round location in Trabzon

When the Uzungöl location is closed, our year-round locations on the Black Sea are in Trabzon and Ordu. The nearest to Uzungöl is the one inside the Radisson Blu Hotel Trabzon in Boztepe, Ortahisar. According to the Culture Portal, Uzungöl is 99 kilometres from Trabzon; we make no promise about journey time, which depends on road conditions.

Here is what we know and can say about the Trabzon location:

  • Layout: the spa has two floors. On the lower floor are the pool, sauna, steam room and fitness centre, shared by women and men. On the upper floor are the massage rooms, women's changing rooms, a steam room and the Turkish hammam; the hammam and steam room on the upper floor are reserved for women all day.
  • For male guests: we are not saying that there is a separate hammam for men at the location. Male guests should ask about the hammam before they book.
  • VIP room and couples' room: there is a VIP room with a jacuzzi and a couples' massage room.
  • Pool: there is an indoor pool on the lower floor. The outdoor pool is used from June to September, depending on the hotel management's decision each year.
  • Entry and parking: the spa is on floor -4, entered from the hotel lobby; there is parking and there is no valet. The spa can be used with a wheelchair.
  • Last booking: 1 hour before closing for a massage, and 2 hours before closing if you are doing a massage and hammam together.
  • Language: English-speaking staff work at the location; a translation app is used for other languages.

For more on the Trabzon location, see the Radisson Blu Trabzon location page; for how the women's floor works, see our guide to the women-only hammam and massage floor; and for the pool and hammam arrangement in the city, our Trabzon hammam with pool guide. A short note for international guests

Many visitors who speak English and Arabic come to Uzungöl, and we keep this article simple for them too. English-speaking staff work at the Trabzon location. We have no information on whether replies are given in Arabic, so we suggest keeping your message short and using a translation app if needed. For the Uzungöl location, ask the location about languages.

An example message: "Hello, we would like a hammam and a massage for two people on [date], between [time] and [time]. We are visiting Uzungöl. Is the Uzungöl branch open, or should we come to the Trabzon branch?"

Booking: what to write on WhatsApp

You book by phone or WhatsApp; there is no online booking system. Out of season the Uzungöl location is closed, so the call cards send you to the Trabzon location's line. The numbers are on the call card; we don't write numbers on this page, because it is better that the number stays current in the card. Copy the message and fill in the square brackets.

To find out whether the Uzungöl location is open

Hello, we'd like to come to the Uzungöl location on [date] between [time range] as [number of people] people. Is the location open at the moment? If not, can you tell us about reopening?

To the Trabzon location, for a booking on the way back from Uzungöl

Hello, we're hiking in Uzungöl and would like to come to the Trabzon location on our way back on [date]. There are [number of people] of us. We're not staying at the hotel. Is there a suitable time between [time range] for [a hammam / a massage / both]? What is your last booking time?

For a couple or a group of friends

Hello, we'd like to come on [date] between [time range] as [number of people] people. Is there a time for the VIP room with a jacuzzi and the couples' massage room? How does the hammam arrangement work, and what do you suggest for women and men?

After the message, confirm the reply: "So you are confirming [date] [time], [service], [number of people] people, is that right?" That leaves no surprises on the day. Don't share your health information on WhatsApp; telling your specialist at the start of the session is enough.

A bathrobe, slippers, towel and single-use underwear are provided at our locations. Bring your swimsuit if you will use the pool. The International SPA Association (ISPA) recommends arriving about 30 minutes before a session; if you are coming straight from a hike, that time is a good allowance for changing and warming up. During the session, if the pressure is too firm or too light, or the temperature of the room bothers you, it is right to say so; ISPA advises the same.

Price and further information

We don't publish prices on our website; you get current information from the location's WhatsApp or phone line. Our article on the factors that affect price in general is how massage and hammam prices are set. If you write "current information for this duration and this service", you get a comparable answer.
