How to Choose a Hotel Gym and Pool Membership: Daily, Monthly or Yearly?

When you choose a hotel gym and pool membership, look at three things: how often you will really go, which areas the membership covers, and what the contract says. Let experience, not guesswork, decide the length. Start with a day pass or a short membership to see your rhythm, then move to a longer one. For current membership details, message the location on WhatsApp.

What is a hotel gym and pool membership, and who is it for?

A hotel gym and pool membership lets someone who isn't staying at the hotel use its fitness and pool areas for a set period. What it includes is the hotel's own decision, and you should get it in writing.

In many city hotels the gym and pool exist only for people staying the night. Some hotels open them to outside guests too and call it a "membership". That is the case at some Beatus Spa locations: Ramada Plaza City Center, Wanda Vista, The G Hotels and Radisson Blu Trabzon offer memberships to people who aren't staying at the hotel. We use these four as examples in this guide because they give four different answers to the same questions. Membership terms can change over time, so the one rule that always holds is to ask the location you plan to join for the current position.

What sets a hotel membership apart from a chain-gym membership is usually its surroundings. A sauna, steam room, pool and massage rooms may be in the same building, so you can move on to them after a workout. On the other hand, because the hotel's main business is accommodation, it may set gym hours, pool availability and how busy it gets around the hotel's own routine. That moves the question from "how big is the gym?" to "does this place fit my week?"

Who is this guide for? People whose home or office is near a hotel, people who want to train after work, people who want to combine a workout with a sauna and pool in one place, and people buying a hotel membership for the first time. What to wear, what to pack and how a first workout goes is a separate topic, covered in first time at the gym; we don't repeat it here. The question here is: which membership, for how long, and which questions should you ask before buying?

There are no prices in this article. We don't publish prices on Beatus Spa sites, and each location shares current information over WhatsApp or by phone. So instead of an answer to "how much?", this guide gives you a framework for judging the answer you get.

Day pass, monthly or 3-6-12 months: which should you pick?

It depends on whether you already know how often and for how long you will go. If you aren't sure, start with a short option; if you are, a longer membership makes sense.

You can turn the length options into questions to ask.

OptionMay suitQuestion to ask
Day passTrying the place, occasional visitsWhich areas does the day pass cover?
1 monthA short plan or a trial periodOn which day does a monthly membership end?
3 monthsSeeing whether a routine sticksHow does renewal work at the end?
6 and 12 monthsPeople who know they go regularlyCan I freeze or cancel during this period?

The options on offer are not the same at every location. Ramada Plaza City Center has day, 1-, 3-, 6- and 12-month memberships. Wanda Vista has day, 3-, 6- and 12-month; Radisson Blu Trabzon has day, monthly, 3-, 6- and 12-month. For The G Hotels, 3-, 6- and 12-month options have been reported; confirm with the location whether a monthly option exists. Which length is offered where can change, so before you book or join, ask the location for the current position.

The value of a day pass is that you don't decide without experiencing the place. On your first day, don't judge only the workout; look at how the facility runs at your time of day. Can you use the machines without waiting? Is the changing room comfortable? Do the pool and sauna fit the order you had in mind after training? The answers tell you more about which length to pick than any estimate you could make today.

With a longer membership, the contract matters more as the term grows. You will be tied to the same conditions for six or twelve months. So if your life may change in the short term (job, home, working hours, travel), a short membership also commits you less in terms of contract flexibility. Which one suits you depends on your calendar, not on the facility.

What does a membership cover: gym, pool, sauna, steam room, hammam?

Coverage is not the same everywhere. You should ask in writing which areas a membership includes, especially for the hammam and any outdoor pool.

"Membership" can mean two different things. One is the gym alone. The other is the gym plus the wet areas (pool, sauna, steam room, hammam). Even if a pool and sauna sit on the same floor or corridor, that does not mean the membership includes them. In the same way, "there is a pool" may describe an area that depends on the season or on the hotel's decision.

Examples from the Beatus locations show the difference. At Ramada Plaza City Center, the membership covers the pool, sauna, steam room and gym. The hammams are open only to guests having a treatment, during their treatment, and are not part of the membership. At Wanda Vista, the membership covers the gym, the indoor pool, the outdoor pool, the sauna, the steam room and the Turkish bath. At Radisson Blu Trabzon, the membership includes the pool, sauna and steam room. At The G Hotels, an outside membership includes the sauna, steam room, hammam and indoor pool.

Look closely at two details in that list. The first is seasonal areas. Wanda Vista's outdoor pool is in use from 15 June to 15 September. Radisson Blu Trabzon's outdoor pool depends on the hotel's annual decision for June to September, and whether members can use it depends on that decision too. The roof of the rooftop pool at Ramada Plaza City Center opens and closes with the season. So when a "pool" is written as a membership item, you still need to ask separately in which months and under what conditions it can be used.

The second is the hammam. Of all the wet areas, it is the one with the most conditions attached: in some places it is separate for women and men, in some it is used by appointment, in some it is not part of the membership. At The G Hotels the hammam is closed off for each appointment, so you need to ask the location how members use it. At Radisson Blu Trabzon the hammam is reserved for women guests all day, so we don't list it in the membership line; ask the location for details. If you want to know how a sauna, a steam room and a hammam differ, we cover it in sauna vs steam room vs hammam.

When you ask about coverage, it is enough to put three things in one message: which areas exist, which are seasonal, and which are charged separately or by appointment. If the answer comes back in writing, you are less likely to be surprised later by "that wasn't included in the membership".

How do memberships differ from one location to another?

All four Beatus locations offer memberships, but the length, the coverage and the trainer support are not the same. The table below is based on what the locations have reported.

LocationLengthsCoverageTrainer
Ramada Plaza City CenterDay, 1, 3, 6, 12 monthsGym, pool, sauna, steam room; hammam only for treatment guestsNo staff trainer; independent trainers give paid private lessons
Wanda VistaDay, 3, 6, 12 monthsGym, indoor and outdoor pool, sauna, steam room, hammam3 personal trainers; one-to-one training is extra
The G Hotels3, 6, 12 months (ask about monthly)Indoor pool, sauna, steam room, hammam; BOOST gymA personal trainer is available
Radisson Blu TrabzonDay, monthly, 3, 6, 12 monthsGym, pool, sauna, steam roomA trainer writes programmes; no one-to-one training

The lesson from this table is that, before comparing one "membership" with another, you should line up the items side by side. For example, there are no yoga or Pilates classes at Ramada Plaza City Center or Wanda Vista, and Wanda Vista has no standard group classes either. There are no group classes at Radisson Blu Trabzon. If you want group classes, you need to know this before you choose a length.

Beatus runs the BOOST gym at The G Hotels. The fitness centre at Burgu Arjaan is a separate business; it is not offered as a Beatus membership and is outside the scope of this article.

Anything that isn't in the table is unknown: freezing, cancellation or transfer terms, a trial day, the daily pool hours and similar points should be left to written answers from the locations. We don't guess at them for you. For Wanda Vista's Mahmutbey location, our guide to a gym with a pool also explains how to build a workout-and-spa day.

Which length makes sense for how many days a week you go?

The aim is to get close to the activity levels in official guidelines and turn them into a routine you can keep. The length of your membership should fit that routine.

The World Health Organization recommends that adults do at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity a week. The UK's NHS recommends 150 minutes of moderate or 75 minutes of vigorous activity a week, plus strengthening activities for the major muscle groups on at least two days a week. The Turkish Ministry of Health's General Directorate of Public Health says that even 30 to 60 minutes of moderate activity three to four times a week is generally enough for positive effects, and stresses that a programme is personal. The Hacettepe University Department of Public Health information note also gives 150 minutes a week, which is five days of 30 minutes, as an example for adults. These are general health guidelines; they are not a personal programme, and they do not promise a result for any one person.

How do these figures affect the length of a membership? Think of three examples.

One or two days a week. Reaching a weekly target with the facility alone can be hard; walking and everyday movement fill the gap. Because you don't come often, a long membership deserves a second look. A day pass or a short membership is worth considering for this pattern.

Three or four days a week. You can reach the moderate-activity levels in the guidelines at the facility. If you have kept this pattern up for several weeks, a 3-month or longer membership can be a sensible step, because your own habit has become experience rather than a guess.

Seasonal visitors. If the outdoor pool is your target, remember that it is only usable in summer. Wanda Vista's outdoor pool is in use from 15 June to 15 September, and whether your membership falls in those months affects what you get. The rooftop pool at Ramada Plaza City Center also opens and closes with the season. If the pool is your main reason, plan the membership around it.

Be realistic when you pick a length. If at the end of the month you can honestly answer "how many times did I go this month?", base the next membership length on that answer. If you are just starting to exercise, or if you have a health condition, talk to your doctor before setting up a programme.

What should you check at the facility before joining?

See the facility on the day and at the time you would really go. The changing room, the showers, the pool information board and how busy it gets are the four most useful indicators.

The checklist below can be answered, for the most part, in a single visit.

  • How busy it is: Can you use the machines at your time without waiting? Seeing the facility after work tells you something different from seeing it in the morning.
  • Changing room and showers: Are there enough lockers? Are the showers clean, with hot water, and hygienic? The Ministry of Health's General Directorate of Public Health page on pools says that pools should have shower areas and fittings so users can shower before entering the pool, and that everyone should use them.
  • Pool information board: According to the same page, the pool water's temperature, pH and free chlorine values must be posted on a board that users can see. If you can see the board, check whether the values are up to date.
  • Condition of the equipment: Are the machines working and well kept? You don't need to count them; a general impression is enough.
  • How the pool is used: Are there lanes, is there a set lap-swimming time, or is the pool open for general use? Ask the location; we don't state it here because it varies from one location to another.
  • Staff: Is there someone in the gym who can help you, or is that tied to a trainer service?
  • Access and parking: If your membership means coming several times a week, getting there easily is part of the choice. Parking and valet have been reported for Ramada Plaza City Center and open-air parking for Wanda Vista; Radisson Blu Trabzon has parking but no valet. Confirm the details with the location.
  • Accessibility: Wheelchair access varies from one facility to another. Access has been reported for Wanda Vista and Radisson Blu Trabzon; no access has been reported for Ramada Plaza City Center.

This list isn't for comparing places against each other; it is for sharpening your own preferences. You don't need to see every item at one facility. It is enough to decide in advance which ones matter most to you. If you plan to use the pool, you will find the cap, swimwear and shower points in our hotel pool guide.

Is there a trainer in the gym, and is personal training part of the membership?

Trainer support is one of the most misunderstood items in a membership. "There is a trainer" does not mean one-to-one training is included.

There are three different situations. The first is a trainer who works at the facility and writes programmes. At Radisson Blu Trabzon, the trainer prepares programmes for members, but there is no one-to-one personal training. The second is private lessons given by the facility's own personal trainers as an extra service. At Wanda Vista there are three personal trainers, and one-to-one training is an extra service. According to the location, at Wanda Vista an introductory programme, body measurements and an orientation programme are offered within the membership and are not charged separately; confirm the terms in writing with the location before you join. The third is independent trainers who work with the facility. At Ramada Plaza City Center there is no staff trainer; independent trainers work with the spa and give paid private lessons.

These three situations suit different expectations. For someone who will use the gym alone and only wants a starting programme, a trainer who writes programmes may be enough. For someone who wants weekly follow-up and technique corrections, one-to-one lessons are needed, and you should ask separately whether they are included in the membership, how many sessions there are and who gives them.

Questions you can ask when choosing a trainer: What is the trainer's qualification or training? How long is a one-to-one session? What happens if a lesson is cancelled? Is the programme given in writing? These are as much about the trainer as the facility, and the answers have to come from the location. For how beginners can set up a workout, see first time at the gym.

One point is worth stating plainly: if you are looking for group classes, yoga or Pilates, they are not available at Ramada Plaza City Center, Wanda Vista or Radisson Blu Trabzon. Knowing this at the start keeps you from picking the wrong length.

What should you look at in a membership contract, and what are your rights as a consumer?

The contract should state the term, coverage, payment, freezing and cancellation conditions in writing. Consumer rights in Turkey are set out in Law No. 6502. This section is general information, not legal advice.

First, the headings to look for in the contract: the start and end dates of the membership, the areas covered, the status of seasonal areas, the periods when the facility will be closed, the payment method and renewal terms, whether freezing or transfer is possible, cancellation conditions, the right to make changes, and who can end the contract on what terms. Beatus Spa's freezing, cancellation and transfer terms are not stated in this article, because no confirmed information has come from the locations yet; ask the location you apply to for them in writing.

Three points of consumer law are worth knowing.

Unfair terms are void. Article 5 of the Consumer Protection Law No. 6502 defines unfair terms as terms added to a contract without negotiation with the consumer that create an imbalance to the consumer's detriment, and states that unfair terms are absolutely void. A term in a pre-drafted standard contract is treated as one the consumer could not influence. Whether a particular contract clause is an unfair term is for an expert to decide by looking at the actual text.

The price list and the price at the till. Article 54 of the same Law requires lists showing the tariffs and prices of services to be displayed visibly, and says that if the price in the list differs from the price at the till, the one in the consumer's favour applies. We do not interpret how the article applies to a membership; but it is a reasonable basis for asking whether there is a written tariff.

Where to go in a dispute. On the Ministry of Trade's website, under Consumer Arbitration Committees, there is an information text and application forms for disputes between consumer and seller. Under Article 68 of the Law, applying to the consumer arbitration committee is mandatory for disputes below a set value, and the committee cannot be used for disputes above that value; you can apply to the committee where you live or where the transaction took place. The monetary limit is updated every year, so we don't give a figure here; check the Ministry's page for the current value. This section is not a legal opinion; in a specific problem, consult the consumer arbitration committee or a lawyer.

A practical rule: don't accept anything verbally. Keep a written record, such as a WhatsApp chat, an email or a contract annex. Save the answer to every question you ask; if a disagreement comes up later, you will have a clear record.

What should members who use the pool and sauna know?

Members who use the pool and sauna should know the hygiene rules and sauna safety. Both depend on personal habits more than on the membership.

On the pool side, the main topics are showering, caps, swimwear and hygiene. All of them are covered in detail in our hotel pool guide; here we touch on the points that matter for members. Swimwear and cap rules vary by location. At Ramada Plaza City Center, guests bring their own swimwear, cap and goggles, these are not sold, and a cap is not compulsory. At Wanda Vista, swimwear and a cap are compulsory and caps are sold. At The G Hotels, a cap is compulsory. This difference changes how you pack your bag, so find out from the location in advance.

For the sauna and steam room the rule is simple: keep sessions short, rest and drink water in between, leave the moment you feel unwell, and follow the rules posted at the facility. Each facility has its own routine for time and temperature, and asking the team at the location gives better information than a general number. If you have any health condition, are sensitive to heat or are pregnant, talk to your doctor before using the sauna or steam room.

Another practical point for members is the order in which to use the wet areas after a workout. You can read how to put the order together, and what each area is for, in sauna vs steam room vs hammam. Think of that order together with the facility's own rules and your doctor's advice.

How do you set up a first-month plan?

Treat the first month as a trial: two or three days a week, short sessions, and an honest answer at the end to "will I keep going?"

The plan below is an example. It is not a medical programme, and it does not suit everyone.

Week one: getting to know the place. Go two days. Walk through the gym and pool, and look at the changing room, the showers and the information board. Keep the workout short; the aim is to get used to the facility.

Week two: routine. Move up to three days. See which day and time is the most comfortable for you. If you waited for machines at busy times, change your time.

Week three: wet areas. After a workout, try the pool, sauna or steam room. Keep the sessions short and follow the facility's sauna rules. Check which areas you actually used, and whether the area you want is part of your membership.

Week four: review. At the end of the month, ask yourself three questions: Did I go as often as I planned? Were the areas I expected really available? Did I see any obstacle to extending the membership? Write down the answers.

You may want to know how the weekly target in the first month relates to the official guidelines: the example in the Hacettepe note is five days of 30 minutes a week, and the NHS recommends strength work on two days a week. These are general guidelines for adults, and you do not have to reach that level right away. If you have a health condition, or have been inactive for a long time, build up gradually and talk to your doctor.

Which ten questions should you ask before joining? A sample WhatsApp message

Putting your questions in one message is easier for you and for the location. These ten questions clear up most uncertainty before you join.

  1. Which lengths are available (day, monthly, 3, 6, 12 months)?
  2. Which areas does the membership cover (gym, pool, sauna, steam room, hammam)?
  3. When and how are seasonal areas (outdoor pool, roof) open to members?
  4. At what hours can the gym and pool be used?
  5. Is there a trainer? Are programmes written? Is one-to-one training part of the membership?
  6. Are there group classes (yoga, Pilates)?
  7. What do I need for swimwear, a cap and a towel?
  8. Are freezing, transfer and cancellation possible, and how?
  9. How is payment made, and is the contract given in writing?
  10. Is there any difference for someone who isn't a hotel guest?

Sample message:

Hello, I would like information about the gym and pool membership at [location name]. Which lengths are available, which areas does the membership cover (gym, pool, sauna, steam room, hammam), is there trainer support or group classes, and what are the freezing and cancellation terms? Frequently asked questions

Can I get a gym and pool membership without staying at the hotel?

It depends on the hotel and location. Memberships for people who aren't staying at the hotel have been reported at Ramada Plaza City Center, Wanda Vista, The G Hotels and Radisson Blu Trabzon. At other locations the position may differ. Before you book, ask the location by WhatsApp or phone for the length, coverage and terms, and ask for the answer in writing.

What is the difference between a day pass and a monthly membership?

A day pass is for one visit and suits trying the facility; a monthly or longer membership covers repeated use over a set period. The difference may be in coverage as well as length. Ask the location what a day pass includes and how it differs from a membership.

Does a membership include the hammam?

It depends on the location. At Ramada Plaza City Center, the hammams are open only to guests having a treatment, during their treatment, and are not in the membership. At Wanda Vista, the hammam is part of the membership. At The G Hotels the hammam has been reported as covered, but it is closed off for each appointment. Ask the location for the current position on the hammam.

Is a swimming cap compulsory in the pool?

It varies from one facility to another. At Ramada Plaza City Center a cap is not compulsory, and guests bring their own swimwear, cap and goggles. At Wanda Vista swimwear and a cap are compulsory, and caps are sold. At The G Hotels a cap is compulsory. To avoid a surprise at the door, find out the rule at the location you will visit and pack accordingly.

Is there a trainer in the gym, and is personal training part of the membership?

It depends on the location. Wanda Vista has three personal trainers, and one-to-one training is an extra service. Ramada Plaza City Center has no staff trainer; independent trainers give paid private lessons. At Radisson Blu Trabzon the trainer prepares programmes, and there is no one-to-one training. Ask what is covered, in writing.

Are there yoga or Pilates classes?

Yoga and Pilates classes have not been reported at Ramada Plaza City Center, Wanda Vista or Radisson Blu Trabzon; Wanda Vista has no standard group classes either, and Radisson Blu Trabzon has no group classes. If these classes matter to you, confirm the current position with the location before you choose a length, and ask for a written reply.

What should I check in a membership contract?

Check the start and end dates, the areas covered, the status of seasonal areas, the payment and renewal method, and the freezing, transfer and cancellation terms. Law No. 6502 treats unfair terms as void. This is general information, not legal advice; for a specific problem, contact the consumer arbitration committee or a lawyer.

Can I cancel my membership?

It depends on the terms of your contract and the facility's practice. The cancellation, freezing and transfer terms of Beatus Spa locations are not stated in this article; you need to get them from the location in writing. As general consumer advice, asking about cancellation and getting the answer in writing before you sign is far easier than trying to find out after a problem arises.

Is the pool open in winter?

It depends on the location. The roof of the rooftop pool at Ramada Plaza City Center opens and closes with the season; Wanda Vista's outdoor pool is in use from 15 June to 15 September; Radisson Blu Trabzon's outdoor pool depends on the hotel's decision for June to September. Ask the location for the indoor pool hours and the seasonal areas.

Why can't I see the price on the site?

We don't publish prices on this site; we share the names, lengths and descriptions of our services. For membership, you can get current information over the WhatsApp line or phone of the location concerned. If you also give the length you want, the areas you want to use and the days you plan to go, the reply you get will be clearer and more complete.
