How to choose the best gym in Trabzon: hotel fitness room, membership and what to ask

If you are working, studying or staying for a few months in Trabzon, start with three questions: how will you get to the gym, what can you actually do there, and what does the membership open up? At our location in Boztepe the fitness room can be used without staying at the hotel. Day, monthly, 3-month, 6-month and 12-month options are offered, and the membership covers the pool, the sauna and the steam room.

Trabzon has more kinds of gym than most visitors expect: small neighbourhood gyms, branches of large chains and fitness rooms inside hotels. Any of the three can suit you. Which one does depends on the day and time you will go, the route you will take and what you want after the workout. Someone who types "best gym in Trabzon" is usually asking something more practical: which place fits my week, my route and my budget? This guide gives you the criteria to answer that. It does not put one gym ahead of another. Where we add facts about the Beatus Spa location in Trabzon, we include only what we can confirm.

What kinds of gym will you find in Trabzon?

There are three main kinds: a neighbourhood or independent gym, a chain gym and a hotel fitness room. Each has real strengths.

The difference is in which one fits your day.

An independent gym is often close to your home or workplace, and a short trip and a simple layout suit a daily habit. Chain gyms usually offer a wide equipment floor, memberships valid at several sites and a class timetable. A hotel fitness room puts the workout under the same roof as rest areas such as a pool, sauna and steam room, so you do not need a second stop afterwards. Whether people who are not hotel guests can join these rooms differs from hotel to hotel.

So instead of searching for one "right type", it helps to write down what you need. How many days a week will you go, and at what time? Is a shower enough after training, or do you want a pool and a hot room too? Are you looking for one-to-one coaching or group classes? Your answers also tell you how to weigh the hotel fitness room in Trabzon described below. For how hotel gym memberships work in general, see our guide to choosing a hotel gym and pool membership. This page covers only what is specific to Trabzon.

Can you join a hotel gym in Trabzon without staying at the hotel?

Yes. At the Beatus Spa location in Trabzon the fitness room is open to outside members.

You do not need to stay at Radisson Blu Hotel Trabzon, and day, monthly, 3-month, 6-month and 12-month options are offered.

A day pass is an easy way to try the gym, and the pool and sauna afterwards, once. A monthly membership suits a short work assignment or a season in the city. The 3-, 6- and 12-month options are for people who are settling in. The right length depends on how often you will go. If you will train once or twice a week, a long membership can leave part of what you paid for unused. The questions in this guide about route, hours and facilities are a good test before you choose.

Prices are not published on this site. You can message the location on WhatsApp to ask for the current terms and the fee, and our fitness membership page lists the lengths and what they cover. Talking through the right length with the location is easier than deciding alone.

What is in the gym, and what does the trainer do?

The gym has cardio machines, a free-weights area and resistance machines. A trainer writes a programme to suit you. One-to-one personal training and group classes are not offered.

That sentence matters when you are choosing with the right expectations. Cardio machines are for brisk walking, cycling or running, anything that quickens your breathing. A free-weights area gives you room for strength work with dumbbells, bars and similar equipment. Resistance machines guide the path of the movement, which many people starting out find comfortable in the first weeks.

What does "a trainer writes a programme to suit you" mean in practice? For someone new to the gym it makes a real difference. Knowing on day one what to do, in what order and how many repetitions is the easiest way to build a routine quickly. At your first meeting, ask how the programme is updated, how often it is reviewed and who you can ask in the gym when you have a question. If you want one-to-one coaching or group classes, this gym may not match what you are looking for, and it is better to know that before you join. Questions about the trainer's training and experience can be sent to the location too.

To judge the equipment, ask to look around on your first visit. The range of equipment, whether there is a queue at busy times and whether the space feels comfortable tell you far more than a membership description. If you have never joined a gym, our first-time gym guide walks through what to wear and how to plan a first session.

Does the membership cover the pool, the sauna and the steam room?

Yes. The membership at the Trabzon location covers the pool, the sauna and the steam room.

The hammam is not listed as part of the membership; if you want to use it, ask the location separately.

It is worth asking about each of these areas separately. Even when a membership is summed up as "gym, pool and sauna", the detail raises questions. At what hours can you use the pool? Are the sauna and steam room open to members at all times? Is the outdoor pool included, or is it seasonal? If you get the answers in writing, you will not have to say "I did not expect this" at the end of the month.

The etiquette around pools is worth knowing too. According to the Ministry of Health's Public Health General Directorate page on pool waters, facilities should have places where users can shower and disinfect their feet before entering the pool, and all users should use them. In plain terms, showering before you get in is good for the facility and for you. Swimwear and cap rules vary by location, so ask at booking or when you join which are required and whether you can buy a cap there. For a wider guide to pool manners and hot rooms, see our hotel pool guide.

A note on the hot rooms. Harvard Health Publishing's article on saunas suggests cooling down gradually afterwards, drinking plenty of water, avoiding alcohol and medication that affects sweating, staying out of the sauna on a day you are ill, and leaving at once if you do not feel well. It also reminds readers that with some health conditions you should speak to a doctor before using a sauna. If you have any concern about your health, ask your doctor before using the sauna or steam room.

What are the opening hours, and when is a good time to go?

The gym is open every day from 07:00 to 23:00. Confirm the current hours with the location before you go, because hours can change.

A gym that opens at 07:00 lets you train before work, and one that stays open until 23:00 gives flexibility if you come after work or like to go late. But "open" and "comfortable for you at that hour" are different things. The surest way to find out whether weekday evenings in Trabzon are busy is to go at the time you plan to use the gym and look. Before you join, try the place once at the hour you intend to train.

The weather may matter as well. According to the Turkish State Meteorological Service's 1927–2025 figures for Trabzon, the average number of rainy days per month is above 11 in January, February, March, April, May, October, November and December, and lowest in July at 7.66. In other words, wet days are common in Trabzon. An indoor gym gives you a fallback when a planned run or walk outdoors is rained off. Do not read this as a claim that a gym is better than training outside; it is simply one way to build some slack for the weather into your plan.

As for how much activity to do, official recommendations are for the general population and vary from person to person. The World Health Organization recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity a week for adults. The NHS in the UK recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate activity a week plus strengthening activities that work the major muscle groups on at least two days, with activity spread over four or five days. The Turkish Ministry of Health's Public Health General Directorate, which publishes the Turkish physical activity guide, mentions 30–60 minutes of moderate activity three or four times a week. These figures give you a framework. If you have not exercised for a while or have a health condition, ask your doctor what is right for you. The NHS also gives a simple test for moderate intensity: you can talk but not sing.

If you are a woman training here, what should you know about the lower and upper floors?

The lower floor is mixed, used by women and men together. The upper floor is reserved for women all day.

The fitness room, pool, sauna and steam room are on the lower floor.

This matters to women who want to train. The fitness room, pool, sauna and steam room downstairs are mixed, and the membership covers those areas. The hammam, steam room and massage rooms upstairs are reserved for women all day, and our guide to the women-only hammam and massage floor explains how that floor works. No separate arrangement for the fitness room is described; if you want to know more, ask the location.

So a woman who trains can use the lower floor for the workout and the pool, and the upper floor for care and the hammam. If you want to combine the two on the same day, plan the appointment in advance: ask the location at what time to book a massage or hammam after your session. Last-appointment times are collected in our guide to Trabzon evening massage and hammam hours.

How do you get to Boztepe, and where do you park?

The location is in the Boztepe district of Ortahisar, on floor -4 of the hotel. The entrance is through the hotel lobby.

It is about 10 minutes by car to Meydan and about 14 minutes to Trabzon Airport.

The address is Soğuksu, Boztepe Mah. Numan Gül Cad., Çamlık Sk. No:2, Ortahisar / Trabzon. Parking at the hotel is not charged, and there is no valet service. The spa is on floor -4 and can be used with a wheelchair. This article has no confirmed information on public transport or on a walking time, so if you want to try one of those routes, ask the location.

The route is an often forgotten criterion. If you will go three days a week, the round trip can take as long as the workout itself. Time the journey from your home or workplace at the hour you would really travel, and see for yourself what traffic, rain and parking add that day. Allow a few extra minutes for walking through the lobby, going down to floor -4 and collecting your things on the way out.

Summer or winter: how should you think about the outdoor pool?

The outdoor pool is used from June to September, depending on the hotel management's decision each year. In winter and on rainy days you need an indoor plan.

The dates of the outdoor pool may not be the same every year, because the hotel management decides. If you are counting on it, ask before you join, especially for a membership that starts before June or runs past September. Ask the location which hours the indoor pool is open to members, and get the answer in writing. This matters most to people who join in summer, because knowing what you can use all summer makes it easier to compare it with what remains in winter.

A practical way to plan is to think of the length of the membership alongside the season. Someone who wants the outdoor pool might fit a 3-month membership into those months, while someone who wants to train steadily all year might weigh the 6- or 12-month options. Decide which suits you together with the location. If you are planning a summer or autumn break on the Black Sea, you will find the region on our Black Sea spa page, and our pool page covers the pool side.

In what order do you use the pool, sauna and steam room after training?

A common order is a short cool-down and some water first, then the pool, then the sauna or steam room.

Keep your time in the hot rooms short and leave if you feel unwell.

Rather than walking straight from a workout into a hot room, it is more comfortable to give your body a few minutes to settle. The NHS warm-up article suggests a warm-up routine of at least 6 minutes before exercise, and slowing down for a few minutes at the end is a sensible habit in the same way. After that, a quick shower, the pool and then the sauna or steam room is one possible order. But it is a preference, not a rule. You find the order you like by trying it over a few visits.

For the sauna, keep your time short, especially if you are new to it. Drink a glass of water after each hot room and cool down gradually. Do not use the sauna after drinking alcohol. If you feel uncomfortable, leave the room at once. If you have a health condition, are sensitive to heat or are pregnant, ask your doctor before using the hot rooms. This page is not health advice; it describes the experience and general etiquette.

The membership does not include the hammam, but if you are thinking of a massage after training, you can add one to the same visit. A calm order of workout first, then a shower and a hot room, and a massage last suits most people. Set the appointment time to your finishing time so you do not have to rush.

What should you check before joining, and where do you find the fee?

Ask for the terms in writing before you join: the length, what it covers, the hours and how payment works.

The fee is not on this site; you ask the location by WhatsApp or phone.

A membership is a contract, and what is written down clearly is worth more than what is argued about later. Turkey's Consumer Protection Law (No. 6502) defines unfair terms as terms added to a contract without negotiation with the consumer that, against the rule of good faith, create an imbalance to the consumer's detriment in the rights and obligations of the parties, and says such terms are void. That does not mean you can sign without reading. It makes reading more worthwhile, because you should know what you are agreeing to. Ask the location for the payment and length terms of your membership in writing. If a dispute arises, the Ministry of Trade's page on Consumer Arbitration Committees gives information and application forms.

On the fee: we do not publish prices on this site. Ask the location for the current fee and what it includes. The same word can cover different things in different places, since "membership" may mean the gym alone in one place and the gym and pool in another. If you compare, compare like with like. Our hotel gym and pool membership guide has the general contract questions and a ten-question checklist, so we do not repeat them here.

When you write on WhatsApp, a few details speed things up: which membership length you are considering, the day and time you plan to go, and whether you want the pool and sauna. You do not need to share any health information; if you have a health condition, speak to your doctor.

Frequently asked questions

Can I join a gym in Trabzon without staying at the hotel?

Yes. The fitness room at the Beatus Spa location in Trabzon is open to outside members, and you do not need to stay at the hotel. Day, monthly, 3-month, 6-month and 12-month options are offered. You can ask the location on WhatsApp or by phone which length suits you, what the current fee is and what the terms are; prices are not published on this site.

What membership lengths are there at the Trabzon location?

There are day, monthly, 3-month, 6-month and 12-month options. A day pass is for trying the gym, and the longer lengths suit people who are staying in the city. When you choose, think about how many days a week you will go and at what time. Message the location for the current terms and the fee, and ask for the contract terms in writing.

What does the membership cover?

The membership covers the pool, the sauna and the steam room. The hammam is not part of this line; if you want to use it, ask the location separately. The outdoor pool is used from June to September, depending on the hotel management's annual decision. Ask which areas are open to members at which hours, and get the answer in writing before you join.

Are there group classes or one-to-one trainers?

No. There is no one-to-one personal training and there are no group classes in the gym. A trainer writes a programme to suit you, and the gym has cardio machines, a free-weights area and resistance machines. If you want group classes or one-to-one lessons, this set-up may not match what you are looking for. Message the location and ask how the programme is prepared.

What time does the gym open and close?

The fitness room is open every day, 07:00 – 23:00. Hours can change, so confirm them with the location before you go. Also ask at what hours the pool, sauna and steam room are open to members, because the gym being open does not necessarily mean every area is open at the same hours.

Is there a separate area for women?

The lower floor, meaning the fitness room, pool, sauna and steam room, is mixed, used by women and men together. The hammam, steam room and massage rooms on the upper floor are reserved for women all day. No separate arrangement is described for the fitness room, and you can ask the location for details.

Where do I find the fee?

We do not publish prices on this site. You can find the current fee by messaging the location on WhatsApp or phone. If you give the membership length you are thinking of, the day and time you would go and whether you want the pool and sauna, the location can reply faster. You do not need to share health information; if you have a health condition, speak to your doctor.
