Why is the Harbiye hotel spa a good option if you want a massage near Nişantaşı?

Because Harbiye lies between Nişantaşı and Taksim, and Beatus Spa's location in this area is there, inside a hotel. We do not call it "in Nişantaşı", though: it is in the Harbiye neighbourhood, at Cumhuriyet Caddesi No:46.

That honesty matters to someone searching. A person who types "massage Nişantaşı" is usually between work and shopping and wants somewhere easy to reach from that area. Beatus has no address in Nişantaşı itself, and the nearest option is the Harbiye location. We do not say how long it takes to get to the spa from a particular point in Nişantaşı, because that depends on where you leave from and how you travel. Enter the address in your map app and see the time and route from your own starting point.

The Harbiye location is a hotel spa. It takes bookings from guests who are staying at the hotel, and also from people who live, work or shop nearby. For a general introduction, see the Radisson Harbiye location page. We also wrote a guide to the Harbiye spa covering short breaks and how a hammam, sauna and steam room differ; this article is narrower and answers one question: how do you set up an evening massage?

Some readers think of Nişantaşı in connection with our Ramada Plaza Osmanbey location. That one is also in Şişli and, as our Nişantaşı spa guide explains, offers a hammam, pool and massage together. Harbiye has no pool; instead it has a VIP room for two and a couples' hammam.

How do you get to Harbiye?

You enter the location from Cumhuriyet Caddesi No:46 in the Harbiye neighbourhood, through the lobby of the Radisson Hotel Istanbul. The spa is on floor -1.

The location page says the Taksim metro station and Taksim Square are reachable on foot. Walking time differs from person to person, so we give no figure; check your own route and pace on a map app. The hotel car park is open to spa guests and valet parking is free. If you are coming by car, mention it in your booking message so the valet can be prepared.

If you have a day in the Taksim area, our things to do in Taksim and Harbiye guide has a sample route that ends with an evening massage. Before you travel, check metro announcements and closed exits with Metro Istanbul; they can change at short notice.

One fact has to come early: the spa is on floor -1 and you go down by stairs only. There is no lift. The location may therefore not suit a guest who uses a wheelchair or has difficulty walking, and you should keep that in mind if you are coming with an older relative. If you are unsure, ask on WhatsApp beforehand.

How do you plan an evening booking?

The location is open every day from 10:00 to 22:00 and the last appointment is at 21:00. In an evening booking, the most important number is the finishing time.

Four questions come up in an evening plan: when are you leaving work, how long can you spare, what treatment do you want, and how much time do you want afterwards?

ISPA suggests arriving about 30 minutes before a session to check in. In the evening that margin matters even more, because people who come straight from work are often in a hurry, and going into a massage in a rush shortens the experience. Our suggestion: choose a start time at least half an hour after you expect to leave work.

A few example plans (the times are only a calculation; confirm with the location):

PlanStartMenu timeRough finish
Quick evening massage19:0055 minutesabout 20:00
Massage and a rest afterwards19:3080 minutesabout 21:00
Hammam, then massage18:3040 + 55 minutesabout 20:30
Close to the last appointment21:0055 minutesabout 22:00

Look at the last row: a 55-minute massage starting at 21:00 runs right up to closing time. Before you take the last appointment, ask when the session would end and how long before closing that is. An 80-minute session is not suitable at 21:00. The location will tell you, but writing the duration in your message makes it easier.

If you are coming from the shops, leave your bags and valuables in the locker and silence your phone. ISPA also recommends leaving jewellery in the locker and silencing your phone.

Which massage, and for how many minutes?

The Harbiye location offers Swedish, Thai and hot stone massage, along with special spa packages, skin care and body masks.

A short note on each:

  • Swedish massage: A classic massage built on long, flowing strokes. For people looking for general relaxation, it is a familiar starting point. We do not have the menu duration in writing, so ask when you book.
  • Thai massage: Combines pressure points and stretching movements, performed on a floor mat. On the menu, Thai massage runs 55 or 80 minutes. We explain its origins and method in what is Thai massage.
  • Hot stone massage: Given with heated stones. People who want a slow, calm finish to the evening tend to choose it.

If you find it hard to choose, our guide to types of massage is a good place to start. If you are not happy with the pressure during a massage, tell your specialist. The NCCIH (the US National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health) advises that massage should not be used as a reason to put off seeing a doctor about a health problem, and that if you are unsure whether massage suits you, you should talk to your health professional. If you have a health condition or are pregnant, ask your doctor and mention it when you book.

We make no promise about the gender of the massage specialist; that varies from location to location. If you have a preference, say so when you book.

Adding a hammam or sauna before the massage

In Harbiye there are separate hammams for women and men, a couples' hammam and single hammams, and also a sauna and a steam room.

In an evening slot you can add a wet area before the massage. Many people like to warm up in the heat and go into the massage at an unhurried pace. That is a spa habit, not a rule. For a detailed plan on order and breaks, see our guide to hammam and massage on the same day.

That addition has a cost, and it is time. Combine a 40-minute hammam ritual with a 55-minute massage and, with changing and resting, you need about two hours. Because the last appointment is at 21:00, it makes sense to start such a plan around 18:30 to 19:00. Which section of the hammam is used at which time is settled when you book; ask in your message.

On the menu the hammam rituals are Pasha (40 minutes), Scheherazade (55 minutes) and Sultan (80 minutes). Confirm separately which of them the Harbiye location offers.

If two of you are coming: couples' massage, couples' hammam and the VIP room

Harbiye has one couples' massage room, one couples' hammam and a VIP room for two.

Couples' massage room. There is a single couples' room. Because there is only one, booking ahead makes sense in the evening, and especially at weekends.

Couples' hammam. A hammam used by two people together. Separate hammams for women and men also exist; say which you would like.

VIP room. In the VIP room for two, the sauna, hammam, jacuzzi and massage are all inside the room. It is an option for people who want to spend the whole session in one space without moving around. We explain how it works and when to choose it in what is a VIP spa room.

The same buffer rule applies to couples. An 80-minute massage for two cannot start at 21:00, so choose an earlier time.

English and Arabic speakers

At the Harbiye location the staff speak Turkish, English and Indonesian. WhatsApp messages written in Arabic are answered in Arabic.

If you are an Arabic speaker you can write on WhatsApp directly in Arabic. We do not say that staff speak Arabic; only written messages are answered in Arabic. In person, the location uses English and Turkish.

If you are visiting from abroad and staying in Istanbul, give your hotel, the number of people and your preferred day and time window in the message. You can write the booking message in English; the sample below shows the structure.

Booking: what to write on WhatsApp

A short, complete message gets the quickest reply. The location's WhatsApp team replies as fast as it can. The number is on the location page and on the call card at the top of the article; you can phone the same number.

Include:

  1. The day and start time.
  2. How many people are coming.
  3. The massage you want and its length (for example, Thai massage, 55 minutes).
  4. Whether you want to add a hammam or sauna.
  5. Whether you are coming by car (for the valet).
  6. Any health condition, pregnancy or limitation with stairs.

Sample message:

Hello, we would like to book for two people on Friday evening around 19:00. Could we have a 55-minute Thai massage, with a short hammam before it? We will arrive by car. Is that time available, and what time would the session end? Thank you.

When the reply arrives, check the finishing time against your own plan. If there is a risk of arriving late, or you are close to the last appointment, move the time earlier.

Three typical evenings: after work, after shopping, before going out

An evening booking is not the same for everyone, and the right time differs in three situations.

After work. If you work around Nişantaşı, Şişli or Taksim, the biggest risk is the journey: a meeting runs over, or traffic or public transport is delayed. Book at least half an hour after you leave work, and keep your phone with you so you can message the location if you are late. Starting a session late can shorten it; the location knows how this is handled, so ask by message.

After shopping. For someone who has walked all day, a massage is often a break that focuses on the feet and back. Say so when you book so your specialist can talk to you about pressure and focus; we do not promise a result, we simply suggest that you state what you need. Going down the stairs to the spa with shopping bags can be hard, so allow for that.

Before dinner or an event. Do not put the massage right before the event. Leave time to dress, drink a glass of water and rest. ISPA reminds guests to allow time to get dressed after a session, and that the room is often needed for the next guest, so a person in a hurry ends up squeezed. Set your dinner or event time by the session's finishing time, not the other way round.

Small preparations before, during and after the appointment

Small preparations make an evening session easier. Practical points from ISPA's spa guide:

  • Ask when you book. ISPA advises asking about the cancellation policy when you reserve. Write to the location: "If I can't come, how can I change the booking?"
  • Shower first. ISPA suggests a short shower before a session so that oils and products absorb well.
  • Keep quiet. A spa is a quiet place; silencing your phone matters to you and to other guests.
  • Mention your health. If you have an injury, a sensitive area or a special need, tell your specialist before the session. ISPA advises this as well.
  • Avoid a heavy meal. Eating a large meal right before an evening massage can be uncomfortable; arrive after something light.

After the session, do not jump up; rest for a few minutes and drink water. If you then want to walk towards Taksim or Nişantaşı, our things to do in Taksim guide has calm options for the evening.

Price and package questions

We do not publish prices on this site. For prices and details of the special spa packages, write to the location on WhatsApp, naming the service, its length and the number of people, and you will receive current information. To understand what influences prices, see how massage and hammam prices are set.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to stay at the hotel?

No. The Harbiye location is a separate spa operating inside the Radisson Hotel Istanbul, and it is open by appointment to guests who are not staying at the hotel. If you work in the area, shop here or spend time around Taksim, you do not have to be a hotel guest. You enter through the lobby and go down to the spa floor; book in advance by WhatsApp or phone.

When is the last appointment?

The location is open every day from 10:00 to 22:00 and the last appointment is at 21:00. This means a session that starts at 21:00 will end close to closing time. If you want a long massage or a hammam and massage together, start earlier and ask when the session would end, so you can leave without rushing.

Can couples go?

Yes. The location has a couples' massage room, a couples' hammam and a VIP room for two. In the VIP room, the sauna, hammam, jacuzzi and massage are inside the room. Because there is only one couples' massage room, it is wise to book ahead, especially for weekend evenings. Say in your message which option you would like.

Is valet parking charged?

No, valet parking is free of charge. The hotel car park is also open to spa guests. If you tell the location in your booking message that you are coming by car, it can prepare. We have nothing in writing about the capacity of the car park or any special-hours arrangement, so on a busy evening it is worth confirming with the location before you set off.

Is there English-speaking staff?

Yes. The staff at the Harbiye location speak Turkish, English and Indonesian. WhatsApp messages written in Arabic are answered in Arabic; we do not say that staff speak Arabic. As a visitor from abroad you can write in English. State the date, the time, the number of people and the massage you want, and the location will tell you about availability and the finishing time.

Do I have to use the stairs to get to the spa?

Yes. The spa is on floor -1, entered through the hotel lobby, and reached by stairs only; there is no lift. The location may therefore not suit guests who use a wheelchair or find walking difficult. If you are unsure, write to the location before you come and describe your situation. Stairs also matter if you arrive with a heavy suitcase or shopping bags.

What should I do if I am pregnant or have a health condition?

Ask your doctor before you book. The NCCIH advises talking to your health professional if you are unsure whether massage suits you. Put your pregnancy or health condition in your booking message and tell your specialist in person before the session. The location will tell you about suitability and the plan accordingly; if you feel any discomfort during the session, say so straight away.
