Someone searching for a massage in Şişli is usually asking something more specific: which place suits me, today, from where I am, in the way I want to spend the time? The answer sits in your own criteria, not in a ranking. This guide goes through those criteria for both of our Şişli locations in the same order and does not prefer one to the other. First comes our Osmanbey location inside Ramada Plaza İstanbul City Center, then our Harbiye location inside Radisson Hotel İstanbul Harbiye, the one nearer to Taksim. Each location page has the current phone and WhatsApp numbers, so we do not repeat them here. If you would like to see our other Istanbul locations as well, the Istanbul spa page lists them all.
How do you decide between the two Şişli locations?
The decision comes down to four things: how you will get there, what time you want to go, what kind of wet area you want, and whether you are coming alone or with someone.
Şişli is a large district. Someone working in Nişantaşı, someone living in Mecidiyeköy and a visitor staying near Taksim are not looking for the same place, so it is easier to ask "which one fits my plan?" than "which one is better?". In practice four questions are usually enough:
- Route: Do you want to be close to the metro, or are you coming on foot from around Taksim?
- Time: Are you going in the morning, or in the evening after work? The opening time and the last appointment differ between the two.
- Space: Do you want a pool on the roof, or a visit built around the hammam and a VIP room, with no pool?
- Group: Are you coming alone, as a couple or with a friend?
Once you have answered those, the sections below will show you which location's description to read more closely. If you do not know one of the answers, such as the time, do not skip the section. Ask the location in the same WhatsApp message. Writing the same question to both locations and reading the replies side by side is a perfectly reasonable way to decide.
The word "spa" has an official meaning in Turkey too. The Regulation on the Qualifications of Tourism Facilities describes a spa unit inside a tourist facility as one that has at least four of a list of arrangements, including a Turkish bath, steam room, sauna, massage units and an indoor pool, with separate changing, locker, shower and toilet arrangements for women and men. That is general background; it does not prove that any one business meets the definition. It does remind you that choosing a spa means looking beyond the massage room to how the wet area, changing rooms and showers are arranged, and that is where much of the difference between our two locations lies.
Which location is easier to reach from Nişantaşı, Mecidiyeköy or Taksim?
Osmanbey is about 4 minutes on foot (300 m) from Osmanbey metro on the M2 line.
Harbiye is about 10 minutes on foot from Taksim metro and about 11 minutes from Taksim Square.
These times come from the walking directions we hold for each location, so read them as approximate; your walking pace and the traffic lights will change them. According to the line page of Metro İstanbul, Taksim, Osmanbey and Şişli-Mecidiyeköy follow one another on the M2 line. For someone coming from Mecidiyeköy or Taksim, the metro is therefore a natural way to reach the Osmanbey side. We do not give a journey time from Mecidiyeköy, because we have no measurement to back it. Check your own starting point in the Metro İstanbul journey planner or on a map.
A short reading by area:
- Nişantaşı: We do not have a location in Nişantaşı. The nearest ones are in Osmanbey and Harbiye. Because Nişantaşı is a wide area, the walk differs a lot depending on where you start, so measure it on a map from your own door. Our guide to massage near Nişantaşı and Taksim with an evening booking at Harbiye covers an evening plan in detail, and the Nişantaşı spa guide covers a visit to the Osmanbey side.
- Mecidiyeköy: We do not have a location in Mecidiyeköy either. It is a neighbouring metro stop on the same line as Osmanbey, so the Osmanbey location can be reached by public transport. If you are driving, see the section on stairs, lifts and parking below.
- Taksim: If you are staying at a hotel in Taksim or sightseeing there for the day, the Harbiye location is within walking distance. Our Taksim guide gives you ideas for the area. Osmanbey is one stop away by metro.
The practical tip is to write "I'm coming from Nişantaşı" or "from Mecidiyeköy" in your WhatsApp message, since the team can then say something more concrete about the route and parking for that day. If you have to be somewhere afterwards, such as a meeting, a flight or a dinner, add some time for resting after the session. The International SPA Association (ISPA) also advises spa-goers to arrive about 30 minutes before the appointment so there is time to check in and settle down before the treatment.
Pool, fitness room or VIP room: which location has what?
The rooftop pool and the fitness room are at Osmanbey. Harbiye has no pool; it has a VIP room with a jacuzzi for two, and a couples' hammam.
At Osmanbey the pool and the fitness room are on floor 8 and the spa is on floor 7. The roof over the pool is opened and closed with the season, so it is an open roof in summer and a closed one in winter. Ask the location which hours the pool is open, because we do not hold that as a confirmed fact. The fitness room has cardio machines and a free-weights area. The hotel gym has no staff trainer, although independent trainers working with the spa give private lessons. Guests who do not stay at the hotel can take a day pass or a 1, 3, 6 or 12-month membership; the membership covers the pool, sauna, steam room and the fitness room, while the hammams are open only to guests who have booked a treatment. Our separate article on how to choose a hotel gym and pool membership goes through the questions for that.
At Harbiye, the location's own description does not list a pool or a fitness room. The weight is on the hammams, the sauna, the steam room, the massage rooms and the VIP room. In the VIP room the sauna, hammam, jacuzzi and massage are inside one room, for two guests. Our article on what a VIP spa room is explains what the term does and does not mean. Ask the location about the length of a session and the time slots for that room, as we do not give a fixed duration or a package definition here.
General rules for swimming pools do not depend on the business. The Ministry of Health's General Directorate of Public Health says pools are inspected every month under the relevant regulation, and that the inspections include physical, chemical and microbiological analysis of the pool water. That is general information. For a pool visit it is enough to shower before you get in and to ask about rules such as swimwear and a swimming cap in your booking message.
How does the hammam work at each location?
At Osmanbey there are separate Turkish baths for women and for men, open to guests with a treatment booking.
At Harbiye there are separate hammams for women and for men, plus a couples' hammam and hammams for one person.
The question of who uses a hammam, and when, is an old one. According to the Türkiye Turizm Ansiklopedisi (Turkey Tourism Encyclopaedia), in describing single and double hammams, single hammams were usually set aside for men or women at set hours, while double hammams were two sections built side by side. The traditional answer was "by hour" or "by section". The way our two locations arrange their wet areas is a modern version of that question.
At Osmanbey, the sauna, the steam room and the hammam in the women's area are reserved for women guests. The hammams are open only to guests who have booked a treatment, which means that someone who has taken a day or monthly pass for the sauna, the steam room and the pool does not use the hammam. If you plan a hammam ritual with scrub and foam, say so clearly when you book. We describe the Osmanbey hammam session, its flow and the ritual menu step by step in our guide to the Şişli hammam session and booking.
At Harbiye, next to the separate hammams for women and men, there is a couples' hammam and there are hammams for one person. That gives you different combinations: come alone and book a one-person hammam, or ask for the couples' hammam if there are two of you. The location can tell you which hammam is available at which time. You will find the ritual itself, and the culture around it, on our Turkish bath page.
Neither location ranks above the other when it comes to the hammam; they are two different arrangements. If you want a couples' hammam or a one-person hammam, look at what Harbiye offers. If you are planning a day that includes the pool and the fitness room, look at the arrangement at Osmanbey.
What is the arrangement for women?
At Osmanbey the sauna, the steam room and the hammam in the women's area are reserved for women. At Harbiye the hammams for women and men are separate.
At both, you can ask the location about your preference for a massage specialist when you book.
Women looking for a separate area usually want to know two things: which areas are reserved for women, and during which hours the separation applies. For Osmanbey, what we have is limited to "a women-only sauna, steam room and hammam", and, as above, the hammams are open only to guests with a treatment booking. For Harbiye, what we have is that there is a separate hammam for women and a separate hammam for men. Beyond that, we cannot say whether there is a day or a time slot when a section is open to women only, because we do not hold that information. If it matters to you, put it in your message.
We make no promise about the gender of your massage specialist. Whether a specialist of the gender you prefer is available can vary by location and by day, so the simplest course is to ask when you book. ISPA's spa-goer guidance also suggests telling the spa about such preferences when you reserve. For more detail on the women's arrangement on the Osmanbey side, see the relevant section of our Şişli hammam guide.
How are a couples' massage, a couples' hammam and a VIP room arranged for two?
Each location has one couples' massage room.
The couples' hammam and the VIP room with a jacuzzi for two are at Harbiye only; we have no information that Osmanbey has a couples' hammam.
A couples' massage room is a room where two people have a massage side by side. Because there is only one at each location, it is worth writing early, especially for weekends and evenings; if more than one couple wants the same time, whether the room is free depends on the bookings. If the two of you do not have to be in the same room, two separate rooms are also an option, so state your preference ("couples' room" or "two separate rooms") in your message. Our couples' massage guide explains how a session works.
The couples' hammam and the VIP room are extras at the Harbiye location. In the VIP room the sauna, hammam, jacuzzi and massage are all inside the one room, so the two of you can use the wet area without sharing it with other guests. How long the room is booked for, at what time, and what it covers are settled with the location when you book; we do not give a fixed duration. We have no information that Osmanbey has a couples' hammam, so if you want a hammam for two, ask when you write.
Morning or evening: how do hours and last appointments differ?
Osmanbey opens at 08:00 with a last appointment at 21:30. Harbiye opens at 10:00 with a last appointment at 21:00. Both are open every day.
The hours on the location pages are taken from each location's Google Business Profile. For public holidays and special days, ask the location. At a glance:
- Osmanbey: Every day, 08:00 to 22:00; last appointment 21:30.
- Harbiye: Every day, 10:00 to 22:00; last appointment 21:00.
If you want to go early in the morning, look at Osmanbey, because Harbiye opens at 10:00. If you want to go after work, both have their last appointments late in the evening, but the last appointment is not the time the session ends: an appointment at 21:30 means the session starts then. If you want to combine a hammam or the sauna with a massage, work out the total time and move the booking earlier to suit. If you plan a hammam ritual followed by a massage, write them one after the other and ask the location for the total length.
One more practical point for an evening visit: arriving before the last appointment lets you avoid rushing and keeps some time for resting. Our guide to the evening plan at Harbiye walks through three typical cases: after work, after shopping and before an evening out.
What should you ask about stairs, lifts and access?
At Harbiye the spa is on floor -1, entered through the hotel lobby, and reached by stairs only; there is no lift.
At Osmanbey the spa is on floor 7, and there is no wheelchair access.
It helps to be plain about access, since setting off with the wrong information helps nobody. At Harbiye you go in through the lobby and down a flight of stairs, with no lift, which is why we do not describe the location as accessible. At Osmanbey you also enter through the hotel lobby and the spa is on floor 7, but there is no wheelchair access. If you have limited mobility, or are travelling with an older relative, write to the location before you book, ask about the stairs and the floors, and ask what help is possible.
If you are coming by car: at Harbiye valet parking is not charged for spa guests. At Osmanbey there is a car park and a valet service; confirm the terms with the location. Parking arrangements depend on how the hotel runs them and can change, so the most reliable thing is to name the day you are coming and ask.
Which general criteria should you check before booking any massage place?
Four checks are useful before you book: the type of licence the business works under, the presence of treatment and rest rooms, the questions the team asks before a session, and whether the booking terms are stated plainly.
These apply to any massage business, not only to our two. The Regulation on Workplace Opening and Operating Licences lists massage salons as a separate type of workplace and adds requirements to the general provisions, such as a waiting room, a treatment room with a massage table, a changing room, a rest room and a staff room. It also asks for a flat floor that is easy to clean and suitable for disinfection. Read that as a checklist: you can notice, wherever you go, whether those areas are there and whether the rooms are separate. Whether a business complies with the regulation is not something we can check for you; the list simply helps you observe.
On hygiene, simple observations are enough: clean sheets and towels, a ventilated room, and, at the entrance to a sauna, a warning notice and a thermometer showing the temperature. The same regulation asks for warning notices for people for whom a sauna may be harmful, and for thermometers showing the inside temperature, but this does not prove that any particular location complies.
Questions worth asking before you book:
- What exactly is the length and content of the service (is the massage, the hammam ritual and the use of the wet area written separately)?
- What are the cancellation and rescheduling terms? ISPA advises asking about the cancellation policy when you reserve.
- Where is the entrance, how does parking work, and are clothes and towels provided?
- If I have a health condition, who do I tell?
On health, the general frame is this. The massage page of the US National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) advises that you should not use massage to delay medical care for a health problem, and that you should speak to your health professional if you are not sure whether massage is right for you. That is a general caution. In the same spirit, Harvard Health Publishing advises on saunas that you avoid alcohol, cool down slowly afterwards, drink plenty of water, and leave if you feel unwell, and notes that for some health conditions you should check with a doctor first. We make no promises about any health condition: if you have one, or if you are pregnant, speak to your doctor before a massage, the sauna, the steam room or the hammam.
As for the massage menu: Osmanbey offers deep tissue, Thai and hot stone massage, and Harbiye offers Swedish, Thai and hot stone massage. You can read about the treatments on our massage page. You discuss pressure and oil preferences with your massage specialist at the start of the session.
How should you read reviews when comparing the two locations?
Look at reviews through a combination of signs, not a single number: their dates, how many there are, the negative ones and the owner's replies, and whether the service you want is named.
We do not quote reviews on this site and we do not give a numerical rating, because everything you want to see is on each location's own Google profile, in full. You can read all the reviews on the Google Maps profile of the Osmanbey location and the Harbiye location. As you read, look for these:
- Spread of dates: Are the reviews spread over recent months, or do they come from an older period? A venue's arrangements can change over time.
- Number and weight: On a profile with very few reviews, one review can change the picture. Look at how many there are and what each one says.
- Negative reviews: Every business has some. What matters is what they are about and how the business replied. Are there topics that concern you, such as location, hours or waiting?
- Name of the service: "Massage", "hammam" or "sauna"? A review that describes the service you want means more to you.
- Photos: Pictures uploaded by guests can show a different angle from promotional images.
Picking one review and saying "this is what the location thinks" would be misleading, so we carry none over. Opening both profiles and reading them with the same criteria is the fairest way to compare.
The two locations side by side
The table summarises the sections above and holds only what the locations have told us. Where a cell says "ask the location", we do not have the information.
| Question | Osmanbey | Harbiye | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Metro | M2, about 4 min (300 m) | M2 Taksim, about 10 min | On foot |
| Opening; last appointment | 08:00; 21:30 | 10:00; 21:00 | Every day |
| Pool | On the roof, seasonal | None | Ask for hours |
| Hammam | Women-only; treatment guests only | Separate for women and men; couples' and one-person | Book for a ritual |
| Couples' massage room | One room | One room | At both |
| VIP room | Ask the location | For two, with jacuzzi | At Harbiye |
| Fitness room | Yes; membership available | Not listed | At Osmanbey |
| Stairs and lifts | No wheelchair access | Stairs only, no lift | Ask the location |
Read the table with this in mind: a "none" is not a shortcoming but a choice of layout. Harbiye has no pool, but it has the couples' hammam and the VIP room; Osmanbey has the rooftop pool and the fitness room. What the two share is that both are inside hotels, both work by appointment, and both let you talk about a hammam ritual and a massage in the same booking message.
What should a booking message say?
Put the day, time, service, number of people and any room preference in one message.
You do not need to put health details in WhatsApp; you can tell the massage specialist at the start of the session.
The phone and WhatsApp numbers are on the call card at the top of the page, on the Osmanbey location page and on the Harbiye location page. Each location has its own line. Here are two examples you can copy and adjust.
For Osmanbey:
Hello, we are planning a couples' massage for two on Saturday afternoon. Is the couples' room free around 14:00? We would also like to use the women's hammam area after the massage; can we book it together with the treatment? We will come by metro.
For Harbiye:
Hello, we are thinking of a couples' hammam and a massage for two on Thursday evening. Is there an appointment around 18:00? Could you tell us about the VIP room? We are coming by car.
We do not publish prices on this site; you can ask the location for the current price and the available time. The Consumer Protection Law No. 6502 requires that the lists showing the tariffs and prices of services be displayed, and that if the price on the list and the price at the till differ, the lower price applies. We explain what a price depends on in our article on how massage and hammam prices are set, and for a general comparison of locations across the city, see our guide to choosing a spa location in Istanbul.
When the reply arrives, confirm the day, time and service name once more by writing them back. A short, clear message reduces misunderstandings. You could write the same message to both locations and pick the reply that suits you, but making two bookings at once and cancelling one later creates extra work for both locations and for you, which is one more reason to ask about the cancellation terms at the start.
